Review of Last year

On quickly reviewing last year I have found the following---

1)  We celebrated picnic and holi.

2) We observed ouster of Nasim from our Dept.

3) I appeared in MES exam----- results awaited.

4) I purchased a land.

5) A little parrot came to our house, mesmerized us with divine love and accidentally died.

6) I gathered 5 parrots to fill the vacuum of the parrot'. One fled away, one died, three remained.

6) We visited mayapur and got totally bored.

7) Near the year-end I started dieting.

8) I had more than 1 lakh monthly income regularly. I shall finish the year at about 43.

9) Trivia---- marriage of Rumki (berhampore) and  Akhi(mehegram)  were attended.

10)  Rik’s school results are not satisfactory. Rik has been admitted in St Paul school

11) We visited Digha, Mandarmoni.

Last day at digha 25 /12/ 2009

We went to beach at about 9 AM.And we played a little bit in the water and we didnot take bath in water. I thought old Digha was better than new Digha.. 

Our experience with the hotel is very grim. Its food is below average. Room service is erratic. I thought our Digha experience has been made a little worse by this hotel. I donot like to come back to this hotel again. This hotel is absolute rubbish.

Digha day2

 24/12/2009. We set off early today for shankarpur. It has marvellous virgin beach with good waves. I think it is even better place to stay than mandermani. Hotels are developing , so in five years time from now it is going to be a star attraction.

then we headed towards chandaneswar temple, Orissa. A Shiva temple. God is said to be “jagrata” here. I prayed for my MES. PANDAS are a unbearable nuisance here. then we went to talshari 3km away from chandaneswar temple. Rupnarayan river has met the sea here. Absolute boring place. There is nothing to see except a few red crabs. In order to see it one has to walk 2 km on beach.

On way back we went to science park a mini edition of science city. THERE are a lot of things to see. Rik was amused.where is the body?

Digha day 1

We left mandermani at about 10 AM reached digha at about 11 am. We have booking at Palm RESORT. Hotel looked good from out side. It has fountains, swimming pool,water lakes with fishes. AND there is carpet in the room. Negative side is that it has an extra bed in the room instead of Sofa,Lighting of room is poor. Bathroom is such that you donot want to go bath room. TV is at the head end along with telephone. I donot know how to watch the Tele . There is no room service. why? Food quality is pretty average and it lacks the variety.

We went to old Digha beach at about 4 pm. It is overcrowded. Sea beach is covered with concrete and rocks to prevent erosion by the sea. Unlike Mandarmoni it has big waves breaking on the beach. there are lot of small vendors  selling so many things. Will the Rocks prevent erosion of beach.

22/12/209. I woke up early. We went to the seaside. We were late for sunrise. We took a stroll. Then we came back. After the breakfast we went to mohana where a river (?) jalda has met with the sea. We found a lot of Red crab there. They were very shy of people. They were hiding in the holes at sight of the humans.

At noon we went for a bath in the sea. The sea is not suitable for bathing. We had heavy lunch and then took a nap. At evening we had a walk at the beach. Tomorrow we are going to leave for Digha.

MANDERMANI

21/12/2009. We left our quarter at 12 midnight to board Gour express which was supposed to come at 00:40 am. Naba and Santu accompanied me up to station. I looked for a coolie, but I couldn't find anyone. Train arrived on time. Nearing Sealdah Siddharta, my college friend, suddenly discovered me. I actually couldn't recognise him. His curly  thick hair is gone. He is bald and ?beautiful. Station came and we didnot have enough time to share our feelings .

At sealdah station we boarded a car arranged by Zuventus, and started for Mandermoni. Our driver, a hot tempered fellow, Ismail by name  took us to Hotel SONAR BANGLA. The hotel is good looking from outside with lot of areas. Its claim that all rooms are see facing should be taken with a  pinch of salt. One has to lean over balcony to have a glimpse of sea from room. Room service are horrible. For the first time I found a intercom telephone was not working. Food quality is pretty average.There is not much menu to choose from. It has a beautiful garden with many swings. Evevnings are pretty beautiful. We took a stroll at the beach. We found few starfish for the first time in our life.

 

Sea beach is long and flat. As there is scarcity of visitors not many people were found in the beach. We went to take bath and become disappointed. Water is pretty cold and the waves are small and don’t cause the sensation that we are used to get in Puri. Out of lot of excitement we played there for sometime. Beach is very hard. One can drive a car on the beach. In fact one has to reach the hotels by driving on the beach. cars are moving on the beach.

MES exam

Finally I appeared in MES exam. Dr Hiranmoy Bhattacharya has taken the interview for RMO. Luck favored at last. Interview for Assistant Prof was so so. I have done whatever I could. Now it is up to the Almighty to do whatever He can.

MES Exam

I have requested Dr  Mukherjee to help me to get a birth in MES. For the first time I am trying to get a catch for my exam. I have left no stone unturned. I can remember the days of my younger age when I used Write diary and used to express my pre exam tension. Then at the end of exam I used to write again  and find amusement. Every time it was a pleasant experience.

We went home on 26th Nov to celebrate Nabanna.  We shared a few good moments togather

MES

Finally i am going to appear in MES exam on 11th DEc. Dr M Mukherjee is the examiner.  I have two papers that should help the cause.

I have done whatever I can, Now it is up to GOD. How I wish to get a birth in MES.

Thyroid operation

Today I performed a huge thyroid lobectomy along with Dr Tarun Patra. Rec Laryngeal Nv was correctly displayed. Post operatively patient didnot develop any hoarseness. This was the preop picture. Euthyroid  left lobe goiter.

MAYA PUR

IT WAS A RATHER UNPLANNED HURRICANE TOUR TO MAYAPUR. I visited mauapur in 1986-87 when I was a student of class of eleven. I cannot remember much about that picnic.

But this time it was not a pleasant experience. We started at 5 am in the morning. We reached there at 9 am. There are larger than life temple of Lord Krishna and Radha With astha Sakhi, The temple of Lord chaitanya and Pravupad were awe inspiring. But after this there was nothing.The lunch Prasadam was cost effective but not memorable. T he devotion of foreigner and their Shastanga pranam was was noticable.Much hyped Gosala is certainly not a must-see.

At many places one has to remove shoes. Shoes are kept free of charge. over emphasised.

Long gap

Long gap doesnot mean I had no story. I was struggling in the Dept of surgery because of overload . Since Nasim left The Dept. I have to attend on call for 56 hours apart from my OT OPD and Daily Rounds. MES exam  advertisement is finally out and there are only 4 seats. I have decided to to appear in the exam come what may.

Finally Superintendent agreed to relieve us from night duty. The battle against Nasim is still on. Nasim has not been able to get a birth in the Dept.

Rinku was having bleeding pv and white discharge’ She went to berhampore to get examined by a doctor. Rik and I are alone in house.

crunch time

I am really passing through a crunch time. Nasim has left Dept of surgery in a hurry. Now he wants to crawl back  through unfair means. next weak is vital.

RIK IS 8 TODAY

HAPPY B’DAY MY SON. MY FATHER HAS SENT A NMESSAGE '”MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY”. MY IN-LAWS HAS CROWDED THE HOUSE. MY MOTHER HAS GRACED THE OCCASSION.

Hiding

For the first time in my life I am hiding. I am in hospital quarter  but not showing my face to anyone. Because Abu Nasim has left for Calcutta. Today was his Admission day. Super is doing the admission day. I donot let him know that I have come.

41 summers

I am 41 today.

Three days in calcutta

I went to Calcutta as Rik was having some problem in eye. Dr. I S ROY said every thing is okay. Rik has 6/6 vision in both eyes and some allergic conjunctivitis (spring catarrh).

We also had some puja marketing at Rameswar Meheta’s shop at Barabazar.

Highest No of Patient

Yesterday was an important day in my life as  I had more than 50 patients in my chamber for the first time in my life.

Another parrot has been given by a MR. It is a TOTA a variant of parrot. It is more good looking. I have to clip its wings some day. The parrots are not friendly to each other. They are talking to each other and biting each other.

Land lord

Finally I  purchased one land 36ft by 97 ft beside national highway. A parrot has been given to me  by Bachchu. It is very wild and does not response at all. I have clipped its wings and it can not fly any more but it is so scared that it will not come to me  or any one else..

Good Bye Little parrot

My little parrot is no more. It was hit by blde of celing fan and instantly died. May its soul rest in peace. we remember you so much. It was lost twice before, we got it back. But it is now lost forever.

rinku went to babar bari. As usual she is not coming on the day she promised. Idle Sunday but it is even more idler alone.

SO SO

It has been quite a sometime when I last wrote a blog.Today is Sunday and I am just idling away time. Last wk was almost a 30k wk. My total is about 35C.

I am getting nervous before big operations. Last wk I cancelled one operation just out of nervousness.

I was thinking about buying a LCD tv. Finally decided against it.

The parrot is back

some people caught the parrot with a net. The moment it was freed it came back to our house. It was a scared a little at the beginning but quickly adopting.

Naba’s wife is doing well. Many people visited her at the NH but they didnot come to my quarter. nice of them.

This wk is a mixed bag. Three appendectomy and one circumcission. cholecystectomy of Naba’s  wife. Little hitch regarding payment of money with party.

Spent more than 6k.

This wk was uneventful with 18k. I refused to operate a case on Sunday to keep it cool. WE collected Rik’s books from ST Pauls School. What else?

land luck

I could not buy a land. I came so close to buying a land. The bargain was only 25 thousand rupees.  and I missed it. I liked the plot. Keshri used to say that you need luck to get a good plot. I am not getting it. What has  the Almighty planned for me?

50k wk

Saturday. I generally think about what happened throughout last week. I am having good practice and less sleep. I am not operating on GB cases. Making money out of short cases. Rik’s annual examination is going on. Monday is mathematics. Total NH bill for last twenty days is about 45 thousand. It is highest in recent times.

My car has run for over 200 kms with only half the fuel burnt enjoying sleep in the train

Having good practice means bad sleep at night. I think I need to balance a bit between the two.

SUNDAY

TODAY I PERFORMED A SIMPLE MASTECTOMY FOR A GIANT FIBROADENOMA OF BREST. IN THE AFTERNOON TWO PHONECALLS CAME AT THE SAME TIME TELLING ABOUT SOME POST OPERATIVE COMPLICATION. NOT EASY TO DIGEST.  BUT YOU MUST HAVE THE LION’S HEART IF YOU HAVE TO GET 40K PLUS PER WK CONSISTENTLY.

ASICON WILL BE HELD AT COIMBATORE THIS YEAR. I MUST LOOK FOR THE SPONSORS.

40k wk

Last wk was also  40k plus. Nowadays I am Operating even on Sundays. Gone are the days Of Pulak giving long dates for operation and eventually missing the cases.

I was so troubled by the poor mileage of my car. But after testing mileage in proper way I found that the mileage of my car is okay but my driver is stealing my petrol. Now I want to get rid of my driver.
